Today we are enjoying a nice sunny afternoon in Kyoto Prefecture’s Uji City.
Uji City is famous for its appearances in The Tale of Genji, as well as its famous tea production industry. The sightseeing centre is around the Uji River, spanned by some beautiful old-fashioned bridges. It is also home to Byoudou-in, whose pavilion is featured on the Japanese 10-yen coin.
I’ll take you from Keihan Uji station, alongside the Uji River to Uji Shrine. Then I’ll cross over to the area around Byoudoi-in, and walk down the main tourist street to finish at the other side of the Uji Bridge.
