Walk with me Daily takes you on the final episode of our Nakasendo Walk Series, a peaceful 27-minute 4K walk from Tsumago-juku to Nagiso Station in Nagano Prefecture, Japan.

Filmed on a quiet afternoon in mid-April, this route follows part of the ancient Nakasendo highway, one of Japan’s most important historic roads that once connected Kyoto and Tokyo during the Edo period (1603–1868).

For more than 250 years, samurai, feudal lords, merchants, government officials, and travelers walked these same paths while journeying between Japan’s two great cities. Today, this route offers a rare opportunity to experience a piece of living history.

We begin in Tsumago-juku, one of Japan’s best-preserved Edo-period post towns. Traditional wooden inns, tea houses, and craft shops line the streets, while strict preservation efforts have kept overhead power lines hidden, allowing visitors to experience how the town looked centuries ago.

From there, we leave the historic town behind and walk toward Nagiso Station, passing through peaceful back roads, forests, rural villages, mountain scenery, and quiet farming communities. This lush and scenic route is a wonderful alternative to taking a bus or taxi.

Whether you’re exercising at home, relaxing after a long day, studying Japanese history, or exploring places you may never get to visit in person, this walk is designed to bring the world closer to you.

This video is ideal for viewers who enjoy slow travel, immersive walking experiences, and authentic places beyond Singapore.
