About Kiyomizu-dera
Kiyomizu-dera, meaning “Pure Water Temple,” was founded in 778 and is dedicated to Kannon, the Buddhist goddess of mercy. The temple is especially famous for its large wooden stage, constructed without the use of nails, and its beautiful views over Kyoto.
