Discover Jakko-in Temple, a peaceful Buddhist temple nestled in the mountains of Ohara, Kyoto.

Traditionally founded in 594, this historic temple is closely connected to Kenreimon-in, a former empress who lost her young son and family during the fall of the Taira samurai clan in 1185.

After the tragedy, she became a Buddhist nun and spent her later years here praying for her loved ones. Her story is remembered in The Tale of the Heike, one of Japan’s most famous classical works.

Surrounded by beautiful nature and peaceful gardens, Jakko-in offers a glimpse into Kyoto’s history and timeless beauty.
